MY FIRST CUSTOMFIT SWEATER WORKSHOP
CustomFit makes custom patterns for hand-knit sweaters. It takes your choices, your body, and your hand-knit fabric and produces a pattern perfectly suited to you. Design and fit expertise are built-in, so you get to make all the fun choices ("I want a long-sleeved scoop-neck!"), without worrying about the hard ones ("How much ease do I need in my waist?"). CustomFit builds a pattern that fits beautifully from hem to neck, and everywhere in between.

It works like this:

  1. We take all of your measurements one time
  2. You choose your sweater elements (style, neckline, sleeve style, edgings, etc)
  3. You knit a 4x4 swatch which creates your own unique gauge
  4. We put that information into our special LYS CustomFit account and create a pattern that is perfect for you, your knitting tension and your knitting needles.

Because your measurements are saved forever, your second sweater is even easier!

This workshop includes a Knit to Flatter overview, measurements, swatching and good fabric. On the second day of the workshop you will bring back your swatch, we will design your sweater and create your pattern. It's so simple and create a sweater that will be custom fit just for you!

Cost: $30

Beaded Lace with Teri Lindstrom

In this class we will learn about adding beads in knitted lace using one of two scarf patterns provided. The
simpler pattern can be used by those who are less familiar with lace knitting while the more complicated
pattern can be used by more advanced students.

We will start by covering some basic knitting techniques commonly used in knitting lace including charts and provisional cast ons and we will talk about things that may help knitters that are new to knitting lace. (If everyone already knows all this, we can skip it).

We will then cover the two different ways to add beads to your knitting and will talk about where one method works better than the other. Both methods are used in the patterns provided. I will also be giving some help on the construction of the scarf as we go along.

Materials needed:

  • Lace or fingering weight yarn of your choice. (Light DK may also work if that is a preference but no worsted weight). Needles to match the gauge for the yarn.
  • Beads to go with your yarn: 22 larger beads that go in the edging. Approx. 500 small beads for the scarf design. This may be less if you prefer to only do the beading on the ends of the scarf. For lace weight yarn, No. 8 seed beads are best. For fingering weight yarn either No. 8 or No. 6 seed beads can be used. If using No. 6, you will NOT want them all through the scarf as they will add a lot of weight. You can use 1 – 3 different colors of seed beads if you desire
  • No. 10 or No. 12 crochet hook (the hook must be small enough to go through the seed beads)
  • Beading needle
  • A small (0.5 yards) piece of scrap yarn preferably the same weight as your yarn and preferably cotton (for a provisional cast on)
  • Darning needle to run in the yarn ends when the scarf is finished

Dates: Sept 20 & Oct 4 from 11am to 1pm      Cost: $45

Hexipuffs - Magic Loop with Fran Gooch

Tiny Owl Knits’ The Beekeeper’s Quilt is one of the most popular patterns on Ravelry with over 3500 projects since it was published last year. For those who have not yet joined the craze, Woolbearers is hosting a class teaching knitters how to use the magic loop method to knit up hexipuffs
quickly.

The class will cover a cast on and knitting the hexipuffs two at a time, as well as finishing. Students should be comfortable with knittting and purling as well as casting on.

  • Students will need a copy of the pattern which can be purchased at Woolbearers

  • Tapestry needle
  • Fingering weight yarn.
